ART ENQUIRIES (series 1 to 10)
Art is no longer just paintings, it is all around us. The public at large is still too embedded in tradition (landscapes, nude, still life portraits) to accept this new dimension without protest. This series ART ENQUIRIES aims to prove that Art with a capital A is not a sacred impenetrable world apart but something that belongs to us all. It focuses on the role of the artist in our society. Each programme follows the same lines. One central work of art is chosen either because it is the object of a scandal, because it refers to an important event or because it is spectacular. Through news reels, film extracts and filmed interviews with the artists concerned, the why's and wherefor's of the public reaction to a chosen artwork becomes the subject of an enquiry which automatically leads to other works and other artists around the world.
