In telling the stories of two Indonesian fishing villages, this documentary reveals two completely different ways of looking at the world. The one, Bendar, on the island of Java, exploits the sea without a thought for the limits of its natural resources; the other, Watlaar, on the island of Kei Besar, has a tradition of rotating its fishing grounds so as to protect natural resources.
This documentary acts as the intermediary between the two villages and shows that geographical and cultural differences must be taken into account if sustainable economical development is to be achieved.
